How do I register my child for a competition
An email will be sent to swimmers with 2-3 weeks of the competition date. The email will include the competition Invitation and a link to a form to register your interest in the competition. Completing this form will send you a confirmation email. Many competition deadlines can come at the same time. Keep notes of which meets you’ve registered for so you don’t accidentally miss one!
What days can my swimmer participate? Some competitions are over multiple days/sessions. Some of these sessions can have age restrictions. It is best practice to read the age groups and schedules on the meet invitation. If you still have questions, let us know!
The deadline to complete this form will be set a couple days before the host team‘s deadline you might find in the invitation. This deadline is set so that your coaches have time to choose events for the swimmers attending. Once the swimmers have been submitted to the host team, a list of confirmed entries will be sent back. Once this is received, it will be added the the front page of the CSLA website.
If there is a cost to the competition, this will be invoiced to your Côte Saint-Luc recreation account within 2 days of the confirmed entries being received. An email will be sent to the participants when this is completed.
- You can pay the cost online (if you do not have an account, please contact us and we’ll send you a confirmation email)
- You can pay the cost at the reception of the Aquatics Centre.
What do I do once my child is registered for a competition
Once the above steps are completed, you can keep apprised of the home page of this website. Any new documents relating to the competition that we receive, will be published here.
- Meet Invitation:
- This is received before registering to the meet. It may be modified by the host team if required.
- This usually includes information such as the qualified swimmers, the rough schedule of events, the cost of the competition, and any other special information regarding the meet.
- Most invitations also include a form link to register yourself as a volunteer/official. You can register for away competitions as an official. These sessions count towards your volunteer credits.
- Confirmed Entries:
- This is a list of swimmers that have been received and approved to swim by the host team.
- This is received 1-3 days following the coaches submission of swimmers.
- This typically consists of a list
- Swimmer Name | Swimmer Age (or year of birth) | Club | swimming.ca ID | Events registered in (event name, number and qualification time)
- You can check the Event numbers against the schedule of events to know what times and days the swimmer will be competing.
- Timeline/Schedule:
- This is the schedule of events with an estimated timeline for each event.
- Psych Sheets/Heat Sheets
- Some competitions will publish a list of all swimmers per event.
- If this list is separated into heats, it is called a heat sheet and contains the lane numbers and heats for each swimmer.
- Technical Bulletin:
- Includes all the specific details with regards to the meet. This is usually sent 2-3 days before the competition.
- Keep an eye out for: warm-up times, schedule, any combined events or major changes to the original invitation.
- List of officials:
- The list of officials assignments is usually sent out directly to the emails provided by the official when completing the Officials form.
- This list will show where you’ve been assigned, and in which sessions. It will also include information on when to check-in and attend a pre-race briefing.
- Questions can be directed to the Host officials coordinator (remember, they’re volunteers as well!)
- Live Results:
- Live results can typically be found two ways.
- Most competitions in Quebec will publish results live, or per session, to the SplashMe application
- Some competitions also send results to the free live.swimrankings.net platform.
- CSLA tries to post the link to live results when possible to the home page of this website.
- Live results can typically be found two ways.
